Herb’s Adjustment
Herb’s Adjustment was born out of a writing project for a playwriting class I took. My career was spent in medical device side of the healthcare industry, and I have many friends that are physicians. I was always humored by the conflict that I saw between “real” doctors and chiropractors, a different kind of healer, that provided me relief from back problems for many years. Their struggle for credibility from each other is at the root of this short play!

Sure, the blow! A bump. The Big C. Coke. Dust. Flake. A line. Nose candy. A rail. The snow. A sneeze. A sniff. A Speedball. A toot. That…White…Rock!

HERB

TYLER, DC
That’s what they told Elvis.
RUSSELL, MD
Look. I would suggest a low dose of cyclobenzaprine. It’s a well-tolerated muscle relaxer and has been studied for years. The same for prednisone, a steroid. Are you on any other medications?
HERB
(Whispers) Just Viagra.
RUSSELL, MD
That’s fine. Besides, you won’t be doing anything…physical…for a few days,
